Hailed by Peter Gabriel as “simply one of the best singers alive”, Youssou NDOUR, a celebrated Grammy-winning musician from Dakar, Senegal, is acclaimed for his extraordinary voice and impact on global music. Early in his career, he formed the influential Star Band de Dakar, blending traditional Senegalese music with other genres, and pioneering a style eventually known as mbalax. His collaborations with Peter Gabriel on "In Your Eyes" and the hit "7 Seconds" with Neneh Cherry solidified his international fame. NDOUR's subsequent albums, including The Guide (Wommat) and Egypt (the 2004 Grammy Award winner for Best World Album), further established him as a cultural ambassador and global changemaker.
